Daniel Ellsberg ‘How to Stop Nuclear War’ Documentary in the Works
The Hollywood Reporter broke news that Paul Jay is directing a feature documentary on Pentagon Papers leaker Daniel Ellsberg. Titled How to Stop a Nuclear War, the film draws from Ellsberg’s book Doomsday Machine: Confessions of a Nuclear War Planner, and is built around extensive interviews in which Ellsberg unpacks what he describes as the institutional madness of US nuclear war planning. He also argues that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has dramatically heightened global nuclear risk.
Earl Katz (Hacking Democracy) and Rob Johnson (Taxi to the Dark Side) are aboard as executive producers. Jay — a co-founder of the Hot Docs International Documentary Festival and director of Hitman Hart: Wrestling With Shadows — is also founder and editor-in-chief of theAnalysis.news.
